The UHC Laboratory is a Joint Commission Accredited facility that offers a wide range of diagnostic laboratory services. We provide your clinician with the information needed to help diagnose and treat your medical conditions. Our comprehensive rapid in-house test selections give your clinician many of the results needed during your clinic visit. Other more extensive testing is sent to an outside reference lab: Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp.

Clinician orders are required for all testing, however appointments are not required for Laboratory services. There are fees associated with Laboratory testing and collection that may appear on your bill or be filed to your medical insurance.

Outside Doctor’s Orders

Did you know that you can have your outside lab orders faxed by your provider to the Health Center Laboratory?
For your convenience, these orders can be faxed ahead of your visit to UHC so they can be processed and ready for collection when you arrive. UHC Laboratory Fax #: 706-542-8664

We ask that printed orders be submitted to the UHC Laboratory at least 24 hours in advance.

This will cut down on your wait time for several reasons:

  1. if orders or information needs to be clarified with the ordering clinician
  2. if ordered tests have to be put into our system for proper billing or collection
  3. if you come for collection at a particularly busy period due to urgent care visits or scheduled groups.

Please have them include the following information:

  • Patient Name & Date of Birth
  • Test name(s)
  • Diagnosis Code(s)
  • Fax number for results to be sent back to
  • Ordering provider’s name
  • Frequency of testing, if applicable—monthly x 6 (We can treat these as future orders based on the time frame indicated on the order.)

STI Testing

  • 1 in 2 sexually active young people will get an STI (sexually transmitted infection) by the age of 25, and most won’t show any signs or symptoms. Untreated, some of these STIs can lead to serious problems.
  • The UHC Laboratory offers affordable, convenient, and confidential STI testing using a simple blood draw and/or urine sample, with results available within 2-3 days.
  • The easiest way to know you are safe is to “Get Yourself Tested.”
  • See your provider to get an order, and get tested soon!

Please contact the Laboratory if you have any testing questions, and we’ll be happy to help.
