Each week members of the CRC meet as a group for what we call ‘seminar’. This meeting has a variety of goals.
- First and foremost the goal is to introduce students and create the opportunity to make connections with other students in recovery for a support network. At least once a month this meeting is a community activity such as bowling or going out to eat.
- The second purpose of this meeting is to create an atmosphere of accountability. When students join the CRC they are plugged into a small group within the community led by 2 peer mentors who have been members of the CRC for more than 2 semesters. At least one seminar per month is spent with students breaking out into these small groups.
- The remaining seminar times each month are spent covering different topics of wellness that explore the behaviors and skills needed to successfully achieve quality, long-term recovery.
