As the University of Georgia shifts to remote learning for the remainder of Spring 2020 due to concerns about the spread of CoVID-19, CAPS is responding to these changes by updating our services. While CAPS remains open, consistent with CDC and Department of Public Health recommendations, CAPS services will now be delivered over the phone.
At this time, CAPS is offering individual phone consultation services only. Clinicians are available during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm). Students seeking CAPS services should call (706) 542-2273. CAPS clinicians will be in touch with current CAPS clients to discuss additional options, including referral services.
During business hours and after-hours, CAPS remains available for crisis services.
Based on recommendations from UGA and the CDC, to preserve the health and welfare of our UGA community, we are only conducting crisis services by phone at this time. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
You can also access additional crisis services here.
The following CAPS services have been cancelled through the end of the semester:
· Groups and workshops
· Let’s Talk locations/sessions
During this time, CAPS staff remains actively engaged in supporting the mental health needs of the UGA community in a variety of ways. Please explore our updated CAPS: Self Care page, as we have included a robust list of new resources to help you navigate what’s going on. We will continue to update this page as more resources become available.
As always, CAPS remains committed to supporting students, especially during this unprecedented time. We will be posting information about available CAPS services on this page as the situation continues to evolve. Please check back for more information.

The first step in accessing CAPS services is to schedule a brief Screening appointment through the UHC Patient Portal or by calling the CAPS office at 706-542-2273. During the Screening appointment we will listen to your concerns, discuss options for ongoing services, and collaborate with you on a plan which may include one or more of the above-mentioned CAPS services, or referral to services that can better meet your needs.
