AlcoholEdu, Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates + Mental Well-Being for Students

Welcome to AlcoholEdu, Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates (formerly known as Haven), and Mental Well-Being for Students at UGA!

As part of our comprehensive health and safety program, UGA expects each member of the first year undergraduate class and incoming undergraduate transfer students to complete AlcoholEdu, Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates, and Mental Well-Being for Students.

The following UGA students are required to complete Parts 1 and 2 of the three courses:

  • Incoming first-year undergraduate students
  • Incoming transfer undergraduate students who are under the age of 23 by the first day of classes for the semester they started in (even if the courses were already completed at another institution)

Timeline & Important Dates

Spring 2021 Incoming Students:
Courses opened on December 4th. An invitation to the courses were sent via UGA email, or if different, the email listed in your Athena account. The following modules are due by January 10, 2021:

  • Part 1 of AlcoholEdu
  • Part 1 of Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates (SAPU)
  • Part 1 of Mental Well-Being for Students

You will receive an invitation to complete Part 2 of a course 45 days after you complete Part 1. The following modules are due by March 15, 2021:

  • Part 2 of AlcoholEdu
  • Part 2 of SAPU
  • Part 2 of Mental Well-Being for Students

There is a 45-day intersession between completing Part 1 and accessing Part 2 of each course that cannot be sped up or unlocked early.

Summer/Fall 2020 Incoming Students:

  • Part 1 of AlcoholEdu, SAPU, and Mental Well-Being for Students was due on August 10, 2020
  • Part 2 of AlcoholEdu, SAPU, and Mental Well-Being for Students was due on October 16, 2020

 

Accessing Part 1

You will receive one invitation inviting you to complete Part 1 of three required modules: AlcoholEdu, SAPU, and Mental Well-Being for Students. This invitation is sent to your UGA email, or if different, the email address listed in your Athena account.

If you cannot find the invitation email, please do the following:

  1. Check your Athena account to confirm which email address is listed (this is where your invitation will be).
  2. If after confirming the correct email account you cannot find the invitation message, check your junk mail folder.
  3. If after checking your junk mail folder you still cannot find the invitation message, please contact us at alcoholedu@uhs.uga.edu and we will send you a new course invitation.

You will use the link provided in the invitation email to access the EVERFI platform. Your username on the Everfi platform is the email address you were first issued at UGA that uses your MyID (example: abc12345@uga.edu). Please note that if you have since updated your UGA email address, your username may not match where you received your invitation. You will choose your own password and will need to keep track of this for all future log-ins.

*After the initial invitation message is sent, invitations to newly admitted students are sent out each week. If you have not received an email invitation within a week of admittance, contact alcoholedu@uhs.uga.edu.

 

Accessing Part 2

You will receive a separate Part 2 invitation email for each of the three modules 45-days after you complete Part 1 of that module. This email invitation will be sent to the same address as Part 1.

If you complete Part 1 of each course on three separate dates, you will receive email invitations to Part 2 of each course on three separate dates.

This 45-day intersession between completing Part 1 and accessing Part 2 of each course cannot be sped up or unlocked early. Please ensure you complete Part 1 in a timely manner to prevent a delay in completing Part 2 by the deadline.

 


FAQ

How Do I Take the Courses?

Access to the three courses is automatically sent via UGA email or, if different, the email listed in your Athena account. Incoming Summer/Fall students receive their invitation email in July, and incoming Spring students receive their invitation email in December. Please check your junk mail folder if you cannot find this email. If you have checked your junk mail folder and still cannot locate this email, please contact us at alcoholedu@uhs.uga.edu and we can send you a new course invitation message.


Who Has to Take These Courses?

The following UGA students are required to complete Parts 1 and 2 of the three courses:

  • Incoming first-year undergraduate students;
  • Incoming transfer undergraduate students who are under the age of 23 by the first day of classes for the semester they started in.

If you meet the above criteria, you are required to take the courses even if you have already taken them at another institution. If you are a graduate student interested in taking the courses, please contact us at alcoholedu@uhs.uga.edu.



What if I Have Already Taken the Courses at Another Institution?

As a member of our community, you play an essential role in creating a safe environment at UGA.  This starts with completing AlcoholEdu, Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates, and Mental Well-Being for Students before you arrive on campus.

Since the course is customized to include UGA specific policies and resources, all incoming UGA students are required to re-take Parts 1 & 2 of AlcoholEdu, Parts 1 & 2 of Sexual Assault Prevention, and Parts 1 & 2 of Mental Well-Being for Students through UGA, even if you have completed the courses previously at another institution.


Having Problems Logging In?

Problems With UGA Single Sign-On Service:

  1. If you are trying to login using a phone or ipad, please try logging in using either a laptop or desktop computer.
  2.  
  3. Try logging into Athena (athena.uga.edu). If you can’t do this, the problem is with your UGA ID and not with the course. You will need to contact the EITS Help Desk at 706-542-3106 and get this fixed. If you can successfully log in to Athena then it is something more specific to Everfi.

  5. Change your UGA MYID password, but don’t include any of the following symbols < > \ [ ]

  7. Make sure you are logging into the courses using the link provided in your original email invitation. Your username and password for the courses should be exactly the same as the one you use to login to Athena.

What if I Miss the Deadlines?

If you miss the Part 1 deadlines, finish Part 1 of both AlcoholEdu, Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates, and Mental Well-Being for Students as soon as possible. You cannot access Part 2 of a course until 45 days after you complete Part 1. This 45-day intercession applies to each of the three courses individually; completing Part 1 of one course will only grant you access to Part 2 for that course after the 45-day intercession. Finishing Part 1 of each course as soon as possible will ensure that you can complete Part 2 of each course in a timely manner.

If you miss the Part 2 deadlines, a hold will be placed on your student account. You will still be able to access and take the course after this time, but there may be complications with removing your registration hold. Holds are generally removed within two business days of completion. If you still have a hold after two business days, contact alcoholedu@uhs.uga.edu and provide verification of course completion to receive assistance.


How Long Can I Expect the Courses to Take?

AlcoholEdu will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

Mental Well-Being for Students will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.


My Invitation Message Has An “External Sender” Warning. Is The Link Safe?

Some students receive this warning at the top of their course invitation email, but yes, all links within this email are safe to use. If you are unsure whether or not your course invitation email is safe, please send a screenshot to alcoholedu@uhs.uga.edu and we can confirm it for you.


I’m not 21, but I Still Drink. Will My Answers Be Private?

The AlcoholEdu course will include surveys about your personal health behaviors to help personalize your experience and measure students’ alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are confidential; UGA will only receive information about the student body as a whole and never your individual answers as a student.


What Else Should I Know?

       
  • Do not input your social security number anywhere on the registration page for identification.
  •  
  • You may take the course in multiple sittings, but make sure to click on the “next” button after completing a section before logging out. If you do not progress to the next section first, you will have to repeat the previous section.
  •  
  • If you experience technical problems, click the “help” button to access the 24/7 help center from Everfi.

If you have a technical issue, use the “help” button in the EVERFI courses or visit the support website, support.everfi.com, to access troubleshooting tips, open a web ticket, or contact the customer support team via chat or phone at 1-844-348-1616. Live support from customer support team members is available Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 8:00pm EST. The University Health Center cannot provide technical support for the course.
