World AIDS Day 2006 -- Twenty-five Years Is Too Long. Be Part of the Solution.

December 1st is World AIDS Day and the University Health Center sponsors activities every year to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, both globally and locally, and to commemorate those who have died fighting this disease.

Three million people have died since the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in 1981. The fastest growing method of HIV transmission is in the U.S. is through heterosexual contact. Worldwide, there are over 40 million people living with HIV/AIDS.

Anonymous HIV counseling and testing is available at the University Health Center throughout the year.

The 77 red flags represent the number of 13 - 24 year olds diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in one week in the United States.
