Be sure your name, address, phone number, date of birth, and any drug allergies are on the prescription and up-to-date.

2. Does the pharmacy accept all insurance cards?
The pharmacy can process most prescription insurance cards. Some insurance cards provide only medical coverage and may require a separate card for pharmacy coverage. Check with your insurance company about this and be sure to bring in your current card.

3. Can I bring in a prescription or refill from an outside doctor or pharmacy?
The pharmacy can fill prescriptions written by doctors outside of the Health Center. Also, we will be glad to call an outside pharmacy to get a copy of your prescription for filling at UHC pharmacy. Please provide the prescription number on your label and the phone number of the pharmacy you wish us to call. If you have a prescription from an outside doctor, stop at Medical Records Desk & ask them to send your chart to the pharmacy before dropping off your prescription.

4. How can I get my prescription refilled?
Call ahead for prescription refills – it saves time if you have your prescription number found on the label ready. You can now order prescription refills 24/7 for pick-up within a few hours (if requested during normal business hours) or the next business day (if requested after hours). Using your phone, enter the 7 digit prescription number found in the upper left-hand section of your prescription label. The refill phone numbers are: 706-542-9979 or 706-542-8627.

5. I don't have time to wait. When is the best time for me to come in?
To avoid long waits, come in the morning. The pharmacy’s busiest time of day is from 1PM until 8PM. Also, if possible, call ahead for refills.

6. What forms of payment do you accept?
There are several ways to pay for prescriptions: Cash, checks, credit cards, debit cards, or you can charge your purchases to your University Health Center account which allows you to charge purchases to your own name.

7. I'm going away for the summer (holidays, semester, etc.) how can I be sure to have enough medication?
Be sure to get enough refills to last you over the various holidays and breaks at UGA, when the pharmacy is closed.

8. How do you process prescriptions for sample medications?
Prescriptions for sample medications are treated like regular prescriptions & are processed in the usual manner.

9. Why is my prescription discussed again with the pharmacist?
It is a Federal Law that patients must be counseled about new prescriptions, unless the patient does not want to be counseled.

10. Can my roommate (friend, family member, etc.) pick up my prescription for me?
HIPAA regulations require prior permission be given to pharmacy by patient if their prescription is going to be picked up by someone else. Just call ahead to let us know.

11. How do you process prescriptions and why does it take longer for some patients than others?
The pharmacy fills prescriptions in the order in which they were dropped off. Some patients wait longer than others because:
a. Patient has multiple prescriptions to be filled.
b. Insurance problems may have to be resolved.
c. Pharmacist may have to consult with clinician who wrote the prescription.
d. Patient may request additional counseling about prescription.

12. How do I purchase over-the-counter drugs, like aspirin or band-aids?
Over-the-counter drugs (OTC) can be purchased by filling out order sheets found next to the OTC cabinet in the waiting area. After filling out the form including your name and the items requested, drop it off at the “prescription drop-off” window & show your student I.D. It will be filled in the order received. If you wish to charge your purchases to your University Health Center account, please enter your student I.D. number on the form.
