Supervisor: Dr. Tara Weiszer

Parameters:
This concentration lasts one semester (16 weeks) which includes 8-9 hours per week of clinical work and 1 hour per week of assessment supervision.

Suggested program:
1. Dr. Weiszer will assess what instruments the fellow is familiar with, populations the fellow has worked with using various assessments, explore questions that fellow may have about assessments or what information has been typically gathered during an assessment, and explore what the fellow is hoping to gain from an assessment concentration.

2. Dr. Weiszer with work with the fellow to outline a clear (mutually acceptable) expectation of the number of assessments that will completed over the 16-week concentration. The assessment process for an ADHD battery typically takes 15 hours which includes time with the student, scoring the assessments, interviewing the student and other relevant individuals, and to write up the assessment report. Fellows are expected to keep a time log of hours spent on each assessment for licensure purposes.

3. There will be an emphasis on therapeutic assessments which includes components such as writing a report that is meaningful to the student and would help them understand the dynamics underlying their difficulties. The report will highlight both their strengths and areas of challenge, coping skills and suggestions to increase coping ability, and provide them with a vocabulary to discuss their personal difficulties to others (e.g. professors or future employers).
