Direct service hours: Indirect service hours: Direct and indirect service hours log: Fellows are expected to keep a weekly log of service hours for licensure. An example of a form is included. Post-doctoral SeminarsA core part of the post-doctoral training program involves training seminars. The seminars are designed to facilitate the acquisition of skills necessary to become a culturally competent therapist. To assist in the integration of the practice and science of psychology, readings may be assigned to support some training activities. In keeping with the emphasis on experiential learning, Fellows may be provided an opportunity to engage in self-exploration. Thus, personal self-disclosures may occur. Seminars take place every other week for two hours. They are presented by CAPS staff and psychologists/therapists in the community. Seminar topics vary depending upon the interests of the Fellows. Among the seminars which have been offered are:
A Professional Development group is also offered on a weekly basis. In this group, postdoctoral fellows along with the training director discuss professional issues (e.g. ethical concerns, APA practice guidelines) as they arise during the year. This group also offers a place to discuss personal reactions/concerns and to give and receive support. |
