Monday
Family Concerns Group -- 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Focuses on the impact of family of origin issues on self-concept and relationships. Participants may come from chemically dependent families or families where their emotional needs were not met in significant ways by primary care givers. Members are encouraged to share their experiences, to give and receive feedback from others, and to obtain support from persons who can understand their experiences.
Relationships Group -- 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Interpersonal Process group for students who wish to better understand themselves and how their social interactions affect their difficulties It offers a safe environment in which to identify and to explore feelings, give and receive support/feedback, practice new, healthier ways of relating to others, and to feel less lonely or isolated. This group is appropriate for people who experience such difficulties as troubled relationships, loneliness, depression, grief/loss, and low self-esteem.
My Sister's Keeper -- 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
(Gender Mix - once a month)
Tuesday
Self-Esteem Group -- 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Primarily psycho-educational and will address defining self-esteem, examining core beliefs and distorted thought, cognitive restructuring, self-esteem in relationships and some assertiveness training.
Eating Disorders Group -- 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
For women working towards recovery from Eating Disorders. Group members learn strategies to resist the urge to restrict, binge, purge, and over-exercise. Past group members report improved body image and decreased obsession with food and appearance. Group is a safe place to talk to 4-7 other women who truly understand.
Wednesday
Graduate Women's Group -- 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Support group for female graduate students. The group provides a place for members to discuss personal and professional issues particular to graduate students including but not limited to family issues, relationship issues, dissertation and comprehensive exam stress, and job hunting stress. The group is rather informal and a god place to meet other female graduate students who are experiencing similar stressors I a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment.
ACT for Anxiety Group -- 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Interactive group will focus on mindfulness-based strategies to learn new ways to respond to anxiety.
