Costs

Counseling

Services are offered at a reduced cost for students who have paid the student health fee. There is no additional charge for the telephone screening, initial walk-in or consultation (IAC) appointment. There are costs associated with additional counseling and psychiatric services and for other services, such as group participation and testing. For information on fees associated with specific services, please call 706-542-2273.

Appropriateness for services is based on a number of factors, including client need, fit with CAPS brief therapy model, and current availability of clinical resources. Eligibility for service is determined in collaboration with the clinician conducting the telephone screening, walk-in, and IAC appointments. If services are not readily available, the option of waiting to receive services at CAPS or being referred to a community resource will be provided.

For students with financial need:
A limited amount of grant money is available to access fees for counseling and psychiatric services through a fund established by the Parents & Families Association. Verification of need is required to access this fund. Students are encouraged to discuss their financial concerns with the therapist conducting the IAC appointment.

Insurance

Students have the option of requesting insurance reimbursement for services, but should first discuss this issue with the therapist. A signed written consent to release information is required before any information is provided to outside or campus agencies. This includes insurance information. More information on fees or to discuss concerns about insurance reimbursement can be obtained from the Business Office by calling 706-542-8621.
