Academic Difficulties

Students who experience academic stress and struggle with the demands of classes may benefit from additional assistance with reading, writing, time management, and preparing for exams. The Division of Academic Enhancement at Milledge Hall (706-542-7575) offers such assistance. The Milledge Academic Center aids students in developing and strengthening skills for academic success at UGA, as well as offering tutoring and other services. The Disability Resource Center at Clarke Howell Hall, 706-542-8719 provides a variety of academic and support services to UGA students. The DRC assists students with a documented disability, including students with a psychological disability, to receive appropriate services so they may attain their academic goals. The DRC requires that the formal AD/HD assessment be less than 3 years old in order for a student to receive services or accommodations for AD/HD.

Mental health difficulties may impact a student's ability to function academically or otherwise. Students are encouraged to discuss concerns affecting their academic performance with their instructor or professor. Confidential information regarding treatment at CAPS may be provided to persons or agencies outside of CAPS, including instructors or professors, after the student signs a consent to release such information (see our Confidentiality Statement for more information). Information about course and university withdrawals may be obtained by visiting the Division of Student Affairs website at Course & University Withdrawals or by calling 706-542-8220.
