What is the Fontaine Center Student Advisory Board?

The Fontaine Center Student Advisory Board was created in the fall of 2008 to increase student involvement in the efforts of alcohol awareness and education within the John Fontaine, Jr. Center for Alcohol Awareness and Education. The group works together to improve the safety and success of UGA students by advising the alcohol awareness and educational endeavors put forth by the Fontaine Center.

The Fontaine Center Student Advisory Board (FCSAB) operates with the understanding that UGA students make a variety of choices and personal decisions regarding alcohol. The work of the FCSAB is to help students make more informed decisions about alcohol use to decrease the risks for legal, health, academic, and social problems.

The FCSAB consists of 15 students from the University of Georgia. Members can include both undergraduate and graduate students, and may include both students who drink alcohol and those who abstain. The FCSAB meets regularly twice per month.

Thinking of joining the FCSAB?

The Fontaine Center Student Advisory Board is recruiting new members! FCSAB members are dedicated, innovative, and excited about improving the well-being of UGA students by encouraging decisions that lower the risks of alcohol-related negative consequences.

Eligibility for the FCSAB requires that you are a current UGA student, either undergraduate or graduate. Members of the FCSAB commit to the group for a minimum of 1 year, and attend every meeting. Additional time commitments may be necessary for events and other outreach efforts. Students applying must have at least one year left of coursework at UGA.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday, September 9, 2009.

Meetings will occur on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.
The dates and times scheduled for meetings are:
9/17 -- 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
10/1 -- 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
10/22 -- 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
11/5 -- 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
11/19 -- 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
12/3 -- 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
As mentioned previously, additional time may be necessary for projects and planning.
