Guide for UGA Faculty and StaffThe University Health Center (UHC) is a state-of-the-art outpatient facility designed to meet the health care needs of UGA students. UHC is fully accredited by the prestigious Joint Commission. The standard of health care delivery has earned the center its reputation as one of the top college health care facilities nationwide. Although primary medical care is exclusively for students, their spouses and domestic partners, there are many services that are available to faculty/staff, and a few available to spouses, dependents and even the general public. |

ServicesThe Dental Clinic is a full service dental practice with two full time dentists and two hygienists who provide comprehensive dental care including cleanings, x-rays, fillings, crowns, root canals, extractions, fabrication of TMJ/clenching appliances, athletic mouth guards and teeth whitening. Services are available to faculty, staff, spouses and domestic partners. Patients are seen by appointment. The Vision Clinic staffs two optometrists and offers eye exams, contact lens fittings, and carries a wide selection of eye glass frames. The designer lines cater to the latest fashion trends, and lower priced frames are available for the budget conscious. A variety of sunglasses, both prescription and non-prescription, are in stock. Prescriptions from other providers are accepted in the optical shop. Services are offered to faculty, staff, spouses, domestic partners and dependents. Generous discounts are offered to employees. Eye exams are offered by appointments. The Travel Clinic offers a comprehensive, country–specific consultation to prepare the traveler for all types of trips. The clinic provides vaccinations, preventive medicine, and personalized health advice. In addition to faculty/staff, this is the only service at UHC that is open to the general public. Patients are seen by appointment. Massage Therapy: Therapeutic massage, a service of the Physical Therapy Department, is offered in a spa-like setting. No referral is necessary. A variety of massage options are available, including Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, prenatal and pregnancy massage, and Reiki healing therapy. Service is offered to faculty/staff. Massages are scheduled for 30 or 60 minutes. Gift certificates and massage packages are available for purchase. The Pharmacy: Faculty/staff can access the full-service UHC Pharmacy. Similar to any private pharmacy, prescriptions written by providers outside the health center are accepted, and most insurance plans are honored. The pharmacy offers commonly prescribed generic medications at competitive prices. They carry a varied selection of non-prescription products that are offered at low cost. Prescriptions can be filled online, by phone or in person. Prescriptions can be transferred from another pharmacy. Pharmacists are readily available to answer any questions you may have. UGA ID Card RequiredAll patients, including faculty, staff, spouses, partners and dependents must have a valid UGA ID. InsuranceUHC is not in-network with any insurance plan other than the student health policies sponsored by UGA. Staff will file insurance for out of network reimbursement.
